SAN DIEGO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Aug 13, 2007 US Farms, Inc. (OTC BB: USFI.OB ) announced today the appointment of Iraj Shadfar, as Vice President of World Garlic & Spice, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of US Farms, Inc.
"Mr. Shadfar brings over 25 years of proven professional sales experience in the fresh Garlic business having served previously as President of USA Garlic & Spice and California Sunshine," stated Yan Skwara, President & CEO of US Farms, Inc.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for me to join the US Farms, Inc. dynamic management team and to add my business experience and success in the Garlic market to growing the produce product lines of the subsidiary, World Garlic and Spice, Inc.," said Mr. Iraj Shadfar.
Skwara continued, "We anticipate our presence in the Garlic business to mirror our recent proven results in the Tomato business. As we continue to develop our niche product strategy with Asparagus, Aloe Vera, Tomatos and now Garlic, our sales will place US Farms, Inc. in the forefront of produce distribution in the US. Even though we are still a relatively small company, we are confident in our growth and profitability."
During the four year period 2003-06, per capita use of garlic averaged 2.9 pounds per person annually-up from 1.8 pounds a decade earlier. Interest in garlic reflects several factors, including the popularity of various ethnic foods and restaurants, the quest for new taste experiences, health messages circulating about garlic, and demand from the health supplements.
"Garlic demand continues to grow across all categories of use for the product," stated Skwara. "We plan to supply this growing demand by positioning the company with many of the largest worldwide suppliers."
